Since the last few months, news has been circulating on the internet that Leica might partner with Xiaomi. But there was not any confidential source available at that moment to back this news.
LEICA is a Germany based leading manufacturer of high-quality and branded smartphone cameras. Previously, only Huawei used to feature Leica cameras on their smartphone. We are well aware of the camera quality of Huawei flagships, thanks to Leica camera technology. But after the US Ban, Huawei lost its ground in the smartphone market.
Leica mention in Mi Gallery App
After the recent update, few snippets have been added to MI Gallery App Source Code that confirms the Xiaomi’s partnership with LEICA.
Mention of “Leica” can be clearly seen in the source code. The code snippet also tells us about four gallery effects that will be available on the upcoming Leica powered phone: Leica Monochrome, Leica High Contrast, Leica Natural, Leica Vivid.
Other than Photo effects, the code snippet doesn’t provide any extra details about the smartphone. As for the name of the smartphone is concerned, there are not any credible sources regarding this.
Going by the recent few leaks and announcements, it can be concluded that the smartphone might be Mi 12 Ultra.
Because Mi 12 Ultra has larger rear camera size, according to leaks and the Mi 12 Ultra has also scored highest DxoMark Score till Date.
There are not any official announcement about the Xiaomi and Leica Partnership. We have to wait few more weeks before official confirmation.
